One of the goals of VitalKey is to serve our key holders by keeping EMS providers in your community informed about the VitalKey.  In an emergency, first responders are taught to check your ID and cellphone for critical information.  That is why we encourage all our key holders to place the VitalKey stickers we provide onto their cars, cell phones, and IDs.

We at VitalKey take seriously the responsibility to help the first responders who serve your community know about the VitalKey and how to use it in an emergency (working at state and local levels).  However, with the rapidly growing base of key holders, we occasionally find some first responders who are not yet aware of the VitalKey.  In these instances I’m glad we have key holders like the one I just got off the phone with. 

While on the phone today with a key holder he began to tell me how much he loved his VitalKey and how he loves to show it to firefighters and EMS providers that he meets in his community. 

What excites me about this is that not only is this Key Holder taking charge of his medical records and protecting his family, but he is also helping to ensure that the men and women who might serve his family in the event of an emergency know that he is a VitalKey key holder.  He told me that occasionally he meets one of these men or women who haven’t heard of the VitalKey and he then take the time to explain what it is, how it works, and how the EMS professional can recognize the VitalKey symbol.

While we work hard to spread the VitalKey word, it is nice to know that you, our key holders, are just as passionate about our mission.

So, to the key holder I spoke to today and all of you who share his commitment to the cause, “thank-you.”
